Brionna has over 15 years of experience working with children and families in a community mental health setting. She enjoys working with children, adolescents, teens, and families as well as transitional age youth (18-25 years of age). Her main objective is to increase successful coping strategies and support the development of healthy relationships, in order for clients to strive in the world. She empowers her clients to create a vision of their ideal self, and supports them through this path to live a more meaningful life. She has an Australian Shepherd named Rainey, who is a certified Therapy Dog (AAT).
Her approach emphasizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy strategies, while pulling from other modalities such as Mindfulness and Object Relations techniques. She has extensive training in Relational Based Therapy which focuses on attachment concerns with families and their child.
Brionna’s areas of expertise include challenges related to attachment disorders, trauma, suicide, self-harm, youth struggling with grief and loss, anxiety and ADHD.
She is certified in three different evidence based practices for children and adults: DTQI (Depression Treatment Quality Intervention), Seeking Safety (which addresses symptoms of PTSD and/or substance abuse) and ART (Aggression Replacement Therapy). She uses play based interventions and art therapy as a major source of intervention.
Brionna also will utilize outdoor and community settings to address specific behaviors and/or practice specific skills. Brionna will use physical activities, Rainey (AAT), and/or a combination of environmental settings to both challenge and develop normal daily life skills and maladaptive behaviors in order to increase the success of the client’s behaviors in their normal every day settings.
