Have you ever struggled with depression? HOW did YOU overcome it?
The news of Anythony Bourdain, along with Kate Spade just 3 days ago, and the 3,000 other individuals who will have committed suicide by the end of the day is daunting.
We live in an era of an identity gap; appearing as one person, in order to hide who we really are…..
Most of you (including me at different times) project to the rest of the world a veneer with which you hide behind, in order for people to see you the way you want to be seen.
By doing this, you hide your true self; those intense feelings of guilt, shame, anger, anxiety, depression, judgement, etc.
You carry layers upon layers of emotion, and yet become so attached to this idea that you can’t express those things to the world; and therefore pretend to be someone you are not.
I know you; because I am you. In the past, I have spent enormous amounts of energy trying to escape and run from everything uncomfortable.
I know what it’s like for those emotions to become overwhelming. So strong, so intense, that it feels like they are never going to go away or that there is no way out.
You have no reason hide or avoid the truth about who you really are. Although it may feel threatening to break this identity gap, and be more honest about your true feelings…I promise you, it will feel more freeing and you will begin to feel more yourself than ever before.
Break your own barriers to being more you, than you have ever been.
I am grateful for my support network, my therapist, my health, and strong coping tools which have helped me see the value I have to give to this world.
I want to help you find that same value in yourself. Ending it doesn’t help us get there!
You are never alone. You are never misunderstood.
